About the Firm
A well-established, employee-owned law firm with strong criminal law capabilities now seeks to recruit a Criminal Defence Solicitor.
Role Overview
You will join a multi-service and well-established law firm with a specialist criminal defence team.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct client interviews and advise on legislation.
- Manage and prepare case files.
- Represent clients in courts (Magistrates’ and Crown) and at police stations.
- Liaise with prosecutors, court officials, and clients.
- Conduct legal research and keep up to date with relevant law.
- Provide excellent client care, maintain strong communication, and manage client expectations.
- Manage and prioritise a busy caseload under pressure.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales.
- Strong case management skills, with the ability to manage complex criminal matters.
- Excellent advocacy and written legal skills.
- Professional resilience and ability to work in a high-pressure, emotionally demanding environment.
- Strong IT literacy (case management systems, standard legal software).
- Excellent interpersonal skills, able to interact with clients from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a legal team.
- Flexible, proactive and adaptable mindset to meet evolving demands.
Experience & Qualifications
- NQ+ PQE in criminal law
